This type of smocking took a little figuring out, but with a little patience and a lot of folding, pinching and pressing I'm really pleased with the result! Some call it Japanese origami smocking, but it's actually the reverse of the 'diamonds' technique that I explain in my Modern Smocking e book. The buttons bring it right up to date and it's lined with a Tilda Stripe.
Just to keep you up to date and share with you with projects I'm working on that I thought you may be interested in...

Half Yard Heaven headband
This is a bit embarrassing but for anyone who's bought the book... please add a couple of inches to the length of the headband, seems it's a bit snug! The next print run will be amended... apologies!

Humphrey's Corner toys
Humphrey, Lottie and Baby Jack are now all available to buy from the Humphreys Corner web site,
I'd say for those who already sew, and you'll need a walking foot! The fleece is so soft, and the toys are adorable, I'll be making a wardrobe for them soon!

Hobbycraft show NEC
I'll be there tomorrow on the Abakan stand doing a little sewing and a little book signing. Come and say hello if you see me, I love meeting you!
The Olympia show was really busy, the demonstration arena was packed! This is a picture of the side of the stage, with a huge picture of Sadie and Elise modelling my headband from Half Yard Heaven.

My spotty purse
This is my first ever purse, it looks huge in the photo but is about 8" long. I love the shape, it looks like a spotty pear! And I didn't use a pattern for this one, I just cut out a shape that seemed to work with the clasp.
